I have a split level house. These stairs are off the kitchen and are the only stairs in the house.

The balusters aren’t up to code and I’m not replacing them. Except for the tile floor in the pic, the floors are all the same color as the railing.

Is there anything I can do to update them? Googling shows ppl either paint everything white or paint the oak black. Painting the oak seems so permanent though and I’m not sure my house has that black “farmhouse” vibe.
