I'm very sorry I did not answer the questions from the last few years... I've been out of reno mode for a while :) It's probably too late, but here are the replies: @walkin_yesindeed - the vanity finish has held up just fine. However, it's not the original paint. We sanded and re-painted with new Ben Moore bathroom paint. No issues with dampness (we do run the fan for every shower, though.) @kirkhall - I have NOT been happy with the touted un-stainable-ness of the epoxy grout on the floor. I mean, it's better than regular grout, but it didn't stay white no matter how much I cleaned it. It looks fine, since the tile is multi-toned, but it's definitely not still white. The shower grout, however, has held up extremely well. @SparklingWater - I don't recall the demo being terribly difficult, but that may be because I knew what to expect from other parts of the house. It was tile over a dense cement. @MrsD - I think the grout color is standard white. @MayaEoff - Our tub is the standard 30" size.

Thanks so much everyone. Sorry I wasn't able to respond to this sooner - I didn't realize anyone had posted on this recently. Yes, its the same cap molding used to frame out the niche. The pocket door is fine since this is off my bedroom but its a pain to lock. I think thats because I have an extra thick vintage door rather than a standard one. If this were a bathroom that was more "public" like a guest bath or off a hallway, I'd definitely be looking for a better lock than the cheapo one we found at Home Depot. I did use the basketweave in the shower as well. No issues at all with it being too slippery (I was concerned about that but its a non issue) I love the lighting in here. In addition to the side lights, I have overhead recessed lights as well a skylight. Its great for makeup application, eyebrow plucking, etc. My old bathroom had a single overhead light and now Im totally spoiled! Hope that helps. Thanks so much for your kind words!

Here's a quick layout: Currently it's set up like a galley kitchen, with the fridge, cabs, sink, 30" stove and cabs L to R along the wall with the window, a cab opposite the fridge (adjacent to the coat closet) sporting a microwave, and a row of cabs next to the door along the wall to the living room. No good work triangle, I'm thinking of putting a pantry drawer and sandwich station/beverage station/appliance garage where the fridge is (to the left of the sink) and putting the fridge to the right of the doorway, opposite the sink. The original kitchen had the living room wall empty with a freestanding table for four in that area. As to how it will be used, well, there's just me, but I like to cook--I have a 30" stove and an additional 12" Miele combiset that I'll be dropping in a counter, probably next to the stove, unless I make a small bar/mother-in-law's kitchen in the basement. In a perfect world (one with a big budget) I'd knock the wall out between the kitchen and dining room, and open the wall between the kitchen and living room putting bar seating for two or three on the living room side--there's a nice stone fireplace in the living room, but not sure if the budget will allow--may change the pocket door to a double pocket door just to open it up a bit, at least... I'm also thinking of making it the way it used to be, with linoleum floor and everything (but modern neutral colors), true to it's origins as a ranch home from '56... I am open to any and all suggestions, referrals, etc... Oh, remodelfla--when you said you did a search, was that a forum search, or should I drop the print in the photo gallery? Thanks again, Paul

I would like to get feedback on the Supercore Basics line. I am looking at Solitude for around 1,000 sf. I have an old wood subfloor that I am going to need to do a lot of leveling on. Where do you draw the line for telling someone that a 4.5mm floor is not for them? I know I only get a 12mil wear layer, but the fact that it is still Aluminum Oxide and has a stone composite core makes me feel it will be ok. Is there any difference in the locking system? The lock does not seem as hefty on the samples for the basics line. I get concerned that with an old pier and beam supported floor that has settled, even if I level the floor, will the less hardy locking system fail if I get slight movement with any further settling?
