We bought a new home recently and have since discovered that the previous owners had a cat. One room, the walk in closet, in particular, seems to have been where the litter box was because a nasty odor is coming from this room. We have since cut out the wall and baseboard which had water damage which aired out the stench that must have been trapped in the wall. The previous owners put new carpet down and the smell is still very pungent which makes me think that it’s in the walls and perhaps even the floor. Has anyone been in this situation? What have you done to get rid of the smell?
