Are there blinds under the drapes now? Is there any trim around the windows? I assume these two rooms are adjoining & if so, having the same window treatments in both rooms looks best IMO. The valance over drapes is a formal look. How about making a change in stages? I can’t tell if drapes & valance hung from same rod but I’d remove the valance from rod & see how it looks with only the panels. That would open up the windows & let more light in. The rods are brass & looks like they tie in with brass in chandelier & coffee table.
