I live in a three-story mountain- modern home in Park City, Utah. A couple years ago, we installed rift and quartersawn white oak hardwood floors with a clear satin stain on the main level. The rest of the home is carpeted, and I need any advice and suggestions to help me address best flooring options for these areas:
- The master suite is on upper floor of the home.
- The bottom floor of the home is partially below grade (walkout basement).
- There are stairs with landings from the main level and down to the lower level.
- I intend to tile the bathrooms on both upper and lower floors.
I have a lot of questions and I’m stuck:
- I’d like to consider installing a very durable, waterproof luxury vinyl plank floor, but I don’t know if they can be used on stairways OR if it’s best to install the same hardwood floors I used on my main floor on the stairs and landings and transition to LVP at the upper and lower level living areas?
- I still like carpet; but, I’m looking for ideas on what would be the best options that might require less maintenance and as I grow older. I hope to age at home.
I’ve attached a few photos and appreciate any suggestions to help me coordinate my flooring.
