Thanks everyone! raehelen - So true about the costs of my time spent agonizing/designing/googling/comparison shopping etc. I now have immense respect for people who design bathrooms for a living (there are so many things to think about!!) and, as you mention, tradespeople. If you have another project you can use the better saw on, seems worth it... Or maybe rent a better one? Thanks for the "timeless" comment: that was one of my goals for the design... probably because I don't want to do this again anytime soon :-) sloyd -- Part of our plumbing involved moving the toilet flange and reworking the piping for the wall-mounted radiator. If they didn't have to do that, I'm guessing we would have been closer to $10k. So, I think it is doable. I could have also done a better job of repurposing things I already had for the accessories/misc stuff. Good luck! DwayneHutchins -- Thanks. Yes, the cupboard is custom. Rebeccamom - My project is scheduled for just after Labor Day. I had to move it out because of work and a family vacation. The extra time has been really great for sourcing and research and I would strongly encourage a 4-6 month window if at all possible. It seems there are so many decisions to be made in a bathroom reno. As far as measurements, my bathroom is a bowling alley! 4.5 feet wide by 11 feet long, not including the shower which is 4 X 2.75 off the long wall. Just to clarify, the $10K estimate is for labor only. I'm trying not to add up the cost of materials as I acquire them. It's painful having expensive taste on a middle class budget!

I'll give you a guesstimate on the cost anywhere between 40-500k, pick any number in between because your guess would be as good as my. Kitchen to swap cabinets could be 13-100k depends what you pick Master bath could be 8-50K depends what you pick and the scope. Deck- could be 10K-100k depends on the size and what you pick. Trim- could be 5-40k same thing depends what you want Doors w/ install- how many doors? you can get a $60 door or $200 door Paint inside/out can be 6k-20k depends who is doing the job and what finish you like. Carpet- the same thing can be $7-50 per yard plus install. Fireplace surround and stone-you can get a $80 mantel or you can get a 5k trimmed out surround +the stone Bathrooms (just aesthetic upgrade)- could be from 6-12k ( I was just visiting a friend of my doing a master bath remodeling, just the toilet his cost was over 5k) That said, none of the numbers you get her will help you, because everyone is pulling them out of the sky because no one knows what you have and what you want. Another way you can help yourself, put 30k on every item you want to remodel and add another 20k for miscellaneous items... what will cost less will be applied to items that cost more and vice versa and see if you OK with that number. After that get a few contractors (3) minimum for a job this size and compare apples to apples, and see what numbers they come back with and compare to yours and see if you can make it work. If they come with lower number, you met your budget and what you have left will be all yours to take a nice vacation because you will needed :-) Good luck.

@Design Girl - I asked the rep to order a larger sample of the Thassos Bold Basketweave. The largest rectangular piece is representative of the size of the white pieces. When I put them up against the subway tile I plan to use, I notice the ratio of L x W is very different. Would that bother you? I'm attaching the large patter and the small.
