I worried about this very issue - that is until we put them up. I love love love the glass on the back of the cabinet and on the inside of the door. I put my makeup on with the door shut - but then when I'm putting the hairbrush up and the door is open I do those "final" touches because it seems more reflective for some reason. Then whenever I'm leaving the house open the door grab the lipstick and quick look and I've off. I can't imagine not having mirrors on the inside now. Hope this helps.

Yes! Thankfully we've planned for the sconce/cabinet face off. It took a lot of looking for a low-profile lamp that I loved... but I found them. I was worried that it would still be too close, but it's going to exceed my best-case scenario. Alternately, we could have done a multi-light fixture centered at the top, but I really love the look (and extra light) of two sconces through the mirror.

We are starting to work on elevations with the MB remodel. The designer asked if I preferred sort of a wall of mirrors (medicine cabinet mirrors on each side of the vanity would adjoin and look seamless with the vanity mirror) or a framed vanity mirror. She will show me mock ups for both next week. It seems to me that a wall of mirrors will look dated (I removed a big ole wall mounted mirror when we moved in!). Mirrors on the exterior of the med cab next to a framed mirror over the sink seems like overkill. What do you think? Does anyone have a medicine cabinet without a mirrored exterior? Any photos? My client bought an expensive Kohler medicine cabinet and when I went to install it we found a giant 4" cast iron drain stack. No way to move it so I chopped up the medicine cabinet and went custom on it. Not that hard really. Maybe have a look at this discussion. [CAN I RECESS A KOHLER MEDICINE CABINET INTO A WALL SPACE WITH PIPES[(https://www.houzz.com/products/modern-bathroom-vanity-lighting-prvw-vr~3033409) When I dry fit or mocked up the medicine cabinet it really stuck out a lot. Almost 4 inches. This took away from the sexy light fixture that will soon go in. I would choose a flat mirror or framed mirror over a surface mounted medicine cabinet. On this job the client asked me to make something custom with a night light for her two young boys. This was an easy build. This unit made from baseboards, 2" banding tape and some stainless steel, Built in my shop and installed on site.
