The NYT today has a story about a heart transplant from a genetically altered pig to a person who had apparently no other alternative. Many reader comments called this unethical because pigs are intelligent animals.

I think the science of lab grown tissue will progress and some day various organs will be able to be lab grown, but at the moment that is not possible.
