Here is my Chantilly Lace trim with White Dove walls.

The darker color is Winds Breath, which I didn't like.

our cabinet maker is matching colors we choose so maybe his mix isnt perfect i def see grey tones in his white dove. we have a north facing kitchen even w two windows and a door almost zero natural light will hit the cabinets. I am literally sitting here having a breakdown. i am late telling our cabinet guy our color. basically white oak floor and island, unlaquered brass... looking at natural cream, bm white dove, bm chantilly lace, sw creamy

Wondering what you decided? Seems like White Dove is a favorite for many. That’s what I’m thinking for my cabinets in north facing kitchen, although it opens into large family room that faces east and south. These decisions are hard because when it’s done, it’s done!

which one looks best?? also we have a bright white and brass ilve stove going in... making it doubly hard as whites other than Chantilly against it look aged. Sigh.

I love how the marble looks on the natural cream and strand of pearls but im balking at doing the entire kitchen in those colors... I had pictured a timeless white kitchen. But now i have looked at some many kitchen photos im not sure if i should change to natural cream or strand of pearls. wish i could do one of those on the bottom cabs and them chantilly lace on uppers and my husband and contractor really dont like that idea

On my monitor, I like your second picture best. What is that color? With your other selections, I wouldn't go too stark white. I think your marble and brass needs a warmer cabinet color. It will still be classic but will also have some depth.

This cabinet color is Creamy Swiss.

Sorry if this throws a wrench in your plans but I think you should try Farrow and Ball White Tie or Benjamin Moore Linen White. They are nearly the same color. I used them in my kitchen with unlacquered brass and I think they look fantastic. I have never gone for white dove and chantilly except for in particular trim situations. I just like more of a cream undertone.

Kitchen - Unlaquered brass hardware and lights, cabinets color matched to FB white tie, walls, ceiling trim are FB white tie.

Laundry room - Unlaquered brass chandelier and Cabinets Ben Moore Linen White, walls walls, ceiling trim FB White Tie

I would stick with all the same white/off-white, whichever you choose. You'll already have the whites from the range and the counter in the mix so that's a lot to coordinate if you do two colors. FWIW we have both BM Swiss Coffee (creamy white) and BM Acadia White (more of an ivory) with unlacquered brass and while they're quite different whites, they both work IMO.

In your photo series with the hardware, I think I like the top one best--is that natural cream? Are the colors in the same order in both posts (with hardware and without)?

I'd also give some thought to not doing white at all, though I'm guessing that is counter to your vision for the space. We have green-gray cabinets against our bright white range, and I love the contrast--plus it eliminates the competing white issue. Just something to think about.

With the wood tones, I would choose White Dove over Chantilly Lace. I think seeing gray tones in White Dove is not uncommon, especially in certain lights. I think the yellows tend to show up in western and southern light. However, if you don't like the White Dove I would suggest looking at more options. I don't see the gray tones, but i'm looking at a photo.

I'd suggest F&B "Pointing" as an option as well. It's slightly brighter and less yellow than White Tie. Used in my kitchen with unlacquered brass and Danby marble/walnut counters and think it looks great. Chantilly Lace IMO is way too bright white.

HU-918119203 Your kitchen is gorgeous. Pointing is a great choice with just a little less yellow than White Tie. Something for Jen South to note, see how around their dining area the green from the outdoors reflects off the walls and changes the color of the paint, see how different the paint looks with under cabinet lighting? These are all things to consider as you move a sample door around the spaces in your kitchen. Your husband and contractor are right. Stick to the same color on uppers and lowers. No matter what the uppers are going to already look different because the usually get more light hitting them than lowers do. And remember, the pictures you see of classically white kitchens are often tinkered with in photoshop and changed by professional lighting. You may be chasing an illusion. Go with what you feel looks good in your space not in pictures.

@jen south - have you considered Decorator's White? CL was too stark for me with white danby marble, white dove is too yellow - esp with north-facing which is what my kitchen is too.

My kitchen is SW Creamy. It can look yellow-er than white in certain lights. Just a heads up. Decorators White should be in the mix

Kendrah - thanks! You’re so right about colors looking different even within the same room. I was convinced they painted one panel a stark white by accident, but it was just the reflection of the stainless steel hood! Love your kitchen and I almost used White Tie myself. I only didn’t because I wanted to use the same color on the cabinets, walls, trim and ceiling throughout most of the first floor and felt a whiter color would work better for that.

Sally - the outlets are actually inside drawers. We will see how that works on a practical level but aesthetically it was a great solution.

@HU-918119203 - one more q! is that LED tape undercabinet lighting? if so, what kelvins? can you tell electrician is coming next week???

I wouldn’t have thought so either, since I know they’re not permitted under overhangs (another option I considered) but this is apparently to code here in CT, and we are using the most recent electrical code (which I know because I almost had a heart attack thinking we’d have to do pop-up outlets in the island top).

Decorator's White has strong blue undertones vs. the clean white of Chantilly Lace. Just because it's called Decorator's White, a lot of homeowners think it's a great white to use. The truth is that Decorator's White is even more limiting because it is so much cooler.Dec 30, 2021

Jen - my cabinet maker will not match F&B - there’s more to the farrow and ball paints than just the formula - something about the quality of paint.

My vote is Chantilly Lace!

Yes that's it. Here it is next to a white posterboard. Of course, you'll want to test all your colors in your own light, but I really like it in my kitchen. The overall feel is warm white and not stark.

My cabinet maker color matched F&B using a Benjamin Moore paint. It was not brush-painted - I would be hesitant to do that on cabinets.

You absolutely can color match F&B - the colors represent RGB formulas like anything else, nothing special. Their finishes are proprietary, and they claim their paint is overall better quality (many painters disagree), but the actual colors are matchable. You just need to get a sample door done in the color(s) you like in your cabinetmaker's finish to see how the color translates. You can compare it to the actual paint too. I might be a little more concerned about a dark, heavily-pigmented color, but an off white shouldn't be a concern.

You can only determine that by viewing the two colors together in lighting similar to what you will have in your space. That said, my perimeter counters are Olympian White Danby marble which has a pure, clean white background and Pointing looks like a creamy white next to it, neither pinkish or "super yellow". Any off white has an undertone that is going to contrast against a stark white. The contrast IMO is a good thing; it's when something is very close to matching but a little off that it reads wrong.

You can't pick colors online; you can get helpful suggestions that you take to real life.

Everything in that room is Pointing, including the ceiling, just in different sheens. Which you can see affects significantly how the color reads. My kitchen faces southeast and gets a medium amount of natural light.

Pointing and Creamy look pretty different to me - Pointing's undertones look yellow/creamier, and Creamy's undertones look pinker/redder; Creamy's LRV is also quite a bit lower: https://hextoral.com/side-by-side/pointing-2003-vs-creamy-sw-7012/

Stiley-I noticed you have reeded glass in your upper cabinets. How is it working for you?
I hadn’t really considered reeded until I saw yours.
I’ll have 6 uppers with 12x32 glass inserts. I’ve considered water glass or seeded.
These cabinets will house pretty dishes and such. White Dove shaker cabinets and Calacatta quartzite.

Jen south-wondering what color you chose? It’s so hard, but I’m sure whatever you pick will look great. Would love to see pics when you’re finished. I’ve seen pictures where they purposely used different shades of whites -cabinets and counters- and it looked stunning!
