The ideal height, which has been the accepted industry standard, is considered to be that the center of the display is at eye level from the viewing position. Since this often appears aesthetically too low when wall mounting, the placement all of the sudden has now been "called acceptable" to have the display at eye level to the bottom of the screen. So sit in your favorite chair, love seat, or sofa and have someone measure from the floor to your eyes! This is your basis for creating the most comfortable height for viewing. While initially everyone wanted the "magazine look" of a wall mount, console placement has finally become more of an "accepted option" by the magazine editors - and it's also less expensive to setup/install! Obviously, all this depends on the amount of television you actually watch and what feels comfortable for you.

I really like it, especially with your very 'airy' plant. All 3 objects give one the feeling of 'floating'. Like magic! It makes the oversized electronic, look like it's in a home setting. Very nicely done. Couldn't be any nicer. Now, look for all those with the giant 'entertainment with a bridge' armoires or wall shelving be putting them up on resale websites, so they can lighten the load in their tv rooms... LOL

RL Relocation...I love that all! Thank you so much. The light is just a cheap builder grade light, I actually have a fixture I love in another room downstairs ( that we never use) I will move it out there. I may be adventurous and try a real plant! The back of the basement is our bar area... we had requested a different layout but the builder didn't relay the info to the guy that did the custom cabinets, so we got what we have but saved money on the price of the house as a compromise. I am going to start a new thread asking for advice on that area ..you may be able to help me incorporate a console table between the windows into the bar area ( it's very awkward!)

My first question always with a ton of wall storage/ display is what do you have that is really special to display/ I find most of these display areas are full of clutter and knick knacks that are not worth being on display and then you come back to ask how to decorate the shelves. IMO get s impler combo like Besta from Ikea where you can choose how to arrange it to suit your life and space . Usually a low cabinet to have the tV at the proper viewing height( center of screen at eye level when you are seated) some storage and a bit of display area.. You decide how to put it together and can look almost custom.These are just a sample of how to customize for your space
