You are right, that is the best solution-if you are going to mostly store the shower curtain inside the tub. I'm only going to be using this for an occasional shower at, if at all so the shower curtain will usually be hanging on the outside of the tub. Even I even keep it hanging; I may just have the contractor install the rod and skip the curtain for now. Can anyone who showers with a rain shower help me??? Does the water splash less towards the back wall???

Sorry I wasn't clear - there is no galvanized pipe left in our house except for the main. Everything else has been replaced with copper. That's what is so confusing - pressure was stinky upstairs but the lines ran across the length of the house in the basement, upstairs and then back across the length of the house to the bathroom. We cut that whole mess out and ran new 3/4" copper supply 5' from the water heater and straight up to the bathroom. The plumber is going to do a pressure test and is planning to trouble-shoot a bit to try to determine what is going on. He mentioned loose solder, checking valves, and a bunch of other things to check in the new work. I was told by the code enforcement officer that it should be 50psi. But the plumber did mention a pressure boosting pump as a last resort and I was wondering if it would really help given that our main is probably restricting volume due to the fact that it is still galvanized. The pressure seems ok, not stellar, on the first floor. If more than one thing is turned on (shower + kitchen faucet for example) there is a noticeable drop in pressure. It's much worse on the second floor.

Hazelwags, thanks for your input. Filing a gallon jug in 51 seconds equates to 0.85 gal/min. Do you know the flow rate for your cold water filter? If it's more than 0.9 gal/min, then it likely isn't affecting the flow of the faucet. I tested mine using warm water, so the maximum amount of water would be flowing through the faucet. Also, did you test the flow using the Motionsense detector or the lever? Other posts on GW have indicated that the flow rate is better when using MotionSense than using the handle. StarCraft, thanks for the info about Watersense certification. I have a relatively new well and pump that delivers 15 gpm at 68 psi, so I don't think water pressure is the problem. I can get 5-6 gpm with great pressure from my old 1980's showerhead, so it's the faucet that is restricting the flow.
