Thank you all for your ideas! Yes landscaping is 100% in order and I have lots of thoughts on that. We are in zone 3B so tough go with plants. I like @Dig Doug's Designs ideas and mytwocents however we are unable to move the front door as the kitchen is directly to the right upon entry. As Patricia mentioned, I can widen and move the left post a bit before getting to retaining wall and open up the stairs a bit and think that might be out best option. Once we add landscape I think maybe this will bother me less. Visually I just didn't like the obstructed view to the front door and not having steps centered to front door.
