I assume you want these curtains for light control? Doesn't look like privacy is an issue.

I would store these curtains elsewhere or donate them and get solar pull-down shades if you need to cut the sunshine during some parts of the day or don't like cows staring at you! (I'm sympathetic. I've got turkeys who gawk through my windows.)

Yes just need them for light control. I liked how curtains could add comfort to the room but I may have to look into that as an option.

I agree to solar shades for heat and light control and they allow you to keep the view. I use 10% in a dark color the darker the better the view so either bronze or chacoal depending on your color scheme. I get mine form Steves blinds and have had great service from them an a great price . You can get them motorized which could be a good idea in your space . If you still want drapes you need more panels the panels should be equal to 2.5-3 x the width of the rod

More curtains would look better than what you have. With curtains, I prefer pinch pleats on rings. The rings make them easier to open/close. Patricia is right - 2.5 - 3x the width of the rod is a nice full look for when they are closed. If you use what you have, you’d probably want to sew the panels together so they look better.

If that’s too much work for you, solar shades or cellular shades may be a more streamlined option. Cellular shades offer more insulation and privacy than solar shades, but with solar shades you retain most of your view. If you really want to keep some softness you could keep your curtains as just ornamental “dummy” panels that do not operate.

The perfect curtain folds and symmetry that you see posted on Instagram and in blogs require a lot of planning and effort.

If you can't use the curtains in another spot or are unable to return them, I would press them, put them back up, and train the folds while they are pulled back. There are lots of instructions online.

Leave them open and buy some inside-mount pull-down shades with a small valance that is the same color as your window trim. The shades will disappear when they are open.

I like the curtains for coziness. Our living room has lots of windows and we've been without window treatments for a long time. I'm finally going to bite the bullet and get some drapery because it feels too open and not cozy in that room with naked windows. So maybe you could layer shades and curtains; that way, you wouldn't have to open/close the curtains all the time.

But I think yours are not hanging right because of the tab--you need rings. If you get rings with clips, you could space them out and have a soft fold using your existing curtains. Here's also a blog post about some really nice-looking Amazon drapery, if you wanted new that don't cost a ton. I don't think yours look too full when open; skimpy drapery is not a good look. Even if you end up layering shades and don't use the curtains, they should still look like they could be used and are full enough to cover the window.

Thank you all for taking the time to reply. I think I’m going to try doing a pinch pleat with some rings and leave them open with shades for light blocking.

Rings will add some length so standard 96 " panels will be too long . On the bright side, standard 84" panels will be less expensive. Unfortunately, you'll have to move the rods and patch the walls.
