Sorry, should have been more specific. Costco Canada sells the 30" Bluestar in their warehouses only and they are usually always in stock at least in many of the GTA stores I visit. Costco Canada online featured the NXR 30" and 36" gas ranges from China only for a few months this year then they disappeared. Perhaps they sold out fast. The online site has never carried Bluestar appliances. The cooktop and Miele oven sounds like a great combo. I'm sure any experienced plumber/gas fitter will be able to come up with a suitable spot for the shutoff valve.

When we remodelled our kitchen, our theme was curves, so "naturally" I bought a curved cooktop (Non Induction). That turned out to be a disaster, the thing died in less than 2 years. Thanks to GW, I learned about induction, and I chose the Elux cooktop, mainly because the touchpad was divided from the cooking surface by an SS barier. That is what totalled the curved cooktop, stuff got on the touch pads that just burned on. That was probably "Over caution" on my part, as posters here are happy with just about any make of induction cooktop, so what looks good to you and its features are more important than any particular brand. I do agree with you about mixing brands. My Fridge is a 48" built in Jenn-air, and my dishwaser is a Miele. All the appliances have been trouble free cept for that first Non-induction fancy cooktop. We hope you are as fortunate as we are, and yes even 4 or 6 inches , of extra oven height are a big help. Gary

What do you people cook in your ovens? Bowling balls? Heh heh. You must be pulling out 30lb turkeys daily if the weight of your pans is that huge of a concern. I only cook turkeys once a year (for which my family thanks me) and only on the big green egg, so we decided on a range with two ovens and a warming cabinet because of the space we gained as well as the look. Our ovens have drawers below them so they aren't on the floor and when I do use them I am able to safely open and check the food without being in danger of burning my nose. We had wall ovens in the old house and hated them, as well as the gas cook top, which IMO is just a horrific waste of space. Now in our new house we have that same crappy set up and will be yanking it out as soon as possible. But we will still only cook turkeys rarely. As a pure ergonomics issue though, it is always better to lift up verses lift from chest level so for me....I just don't get why people put the stove up on the wall. Much like the drawer microwave...it just feels unsafe. And ummm they are ugly. Ok IMO but really, I hate big electronics and plastic in the middle of a wall. (I feel the same way about big screen tvs).

On AJ Madison for example, the steam only oven DG 6500 is at 2.5k, while the combi steam DGC 6500 XL will cost more at 3.5k. I have a 6805 myself, and can vouch that it is worth getting a Miele combi. With broiler, top and bottom heating element, ability to control humidity level finely, drain, and waste reservoir, and perhaps a few more features, it makes the oven more complete and for most of small family cooking, it will be your main oven.
