Rather than emptying containers, I am potting them up! And not with seasonal plants but items I am digging from my current garden to take to my new garden next month. Other than a hanging basket and couple of tomatoes - which are power producing at this moment - I planted no seasonal containers at all. No annuals. The dahlia currently blooming was last year's left over and the rest are tender perennials I have managed to winter over the last couple of seasons. And they will get schlepped over to the new place along with umpteen already potted trees, shrubs, clematis and perennials.

In case anyone was wondering, my new tiny little garden will be almost 100% containerized. Very much ala the very compact, in-city container only back gardens that are often featured on Gardener's World. While my new place is perhaps wider than many of those, it is quite short and my contractor buddy and I decided I could cram in more plants in containers than I could if they were planted in the ground.

In rouge's defense, I have often dumped annual containers well before the weather turned cold (first frost here not until late November, if it happens at all). They can frequently look overstressed by this late in the season and depending on the plant selection, sometimes just look wrong! Nemesia looks terrible now. 😖
