Denita, I shuddered when I saw your comment about my shutters. I always thought mine were sized right. I walk around my neighborhood cringing at ill sized shutters. Do you think mine are too long? wide? And I agree about the ones on the large window. I would love to take them off, but it will leave holes in the siding which I think will be uglier than the shutters...Those might have to stay until new siding. Thank you both!

Beverly's top post with the before and after has my vote! It might not be as major as the others, and it looks fantastic. It also looks very current and not so much like anyone else's house (like the other ones with the gables seem to me). You can keep the roofline (save $$$)! A flat window may be cheaper than a bow window replacement? Even the entrance on the new design looks current. Very chic... Maybe then there'll be budget for landscaping?Makes a HUGE difference.

@BethYes, I saw some of these before and afters when researching and they give me hope! I will try to mockup wood paneling over the garage like you suggested. I love the garage door style, it is actually what we have in mind but could not reproduce in the mockup tool I am using. Also, your fence suggestions have given me some inspiration ... perhaps I could try to paint or stain the concrete wall black to tie in with the black timber retainers suggested by @hallettco and then try to use some pattern of wood panels over the concrete wall instead of a full wall of wood. I will play around with that idea and see how it looks.
