However, when the plant decides conditions are not optimal, the end of the cluster aborts when the buds are barely visible -- resulting in a cluster with fewer than 40 blossoms. [I've seen the little yellowing cluster-tips.]

I'd roll with with a lighting designer suggests I think you could pull off 2 (in the center) or 4 chandeliers here, depends on how the room will be furnished. I'd think about 8 can lights as well, and sconce lights depending on the other finishings. Put everything on dimmers - you can never have too much lighting, but you'll kick yourself if it isn't enough or if there is shadowing. How do you intend to use the room?

I just tried Bellacor.com and they have hundreds of 5-light fixtures. I clicked on one and it was 42" wide. Since I don't know what style you're interested in I can't recommend one in particular, so try this site yourself and see if you can find something you like. Houzz probably has some too. I have purchased from Bellacor many times. Another site you can try is Lampsplus.com. There is a lot of overlap in their offerings, but they will each have some things that the other doesn't.

Hi Patricia, that is a prep sink (not a bar sink). We added that wall and put the prep sink there for the very reason you mentioned. Cabinets don’t go to the ceiling because there are going to be beams in the space between the top of the cabinets and the ceiling. I’m definitely with you on not needing to dust up there! You’re probably right, we don’t need a 48” range. But we found one that meets our other wants (dual fuel, double oven, and steam oven) so we went with it. As for pendants that I like, I actually love this chandelier for somewhere in the house. Over the island? Maybe?
