What’s up with my Hellebores?

I just have two hellebores, Heritage and Ivory Prince. Why are they sending up new leaves now? I cut back this year’s leaves to take the picture.

It’s been a very weird year in the garden. I have a columbine blooming right now…in September for heaven’s sake!
