Quercus ellipsoidalis is a very common tree in these parts, but highly susceptible to wilt and twolined chestnut borer. My spouse and I deliberated long and hard about what to do with this tree, but ultimately decided it needed to come down. What a bummer. A Merlo telehandler with wood racker attachment made short work of it. The adjacent white pine should benefit from its removal. I guess that’s the silver lining.
