Want to make 511 and use Orchiata bark.

It's very difficult to find pine bark fines in my area. I don't know why! Even fir bark is not easy to get in the right size.

(1) Has anyone used orchiata bark?

(2) I have two sizes, one says it is 1/8 to 1/4" and the other 1/4" to 3/8th". Should I use only one of them or mix them up? What would be the difference in drainage or porosity if I were using just one size?

I want to make potting mix for my perennials. I understand that I won't be able to add any fertilizer to it since it is late in the season.
