Miele W1 WXR860WCS washing machine - laundry is oily

last year

I am having issues with my Miele W1 WXR860WCS washing machine. My laundry feels a little oily no matter what I try. If I rub the laundry between my fingers after washing, it leaves an oily or greasy film on my fingers, which leaves a fingerprint on the machine’s touchscreen and soils anything else I touch. The film is removed when I wash my hands. The laundry is clean (doesn’t smell), just feels oily, as if it hasn’t been fully rinsed, yet the final rinse is usually clear. I use the Sensitive TwinDos cartridges.

Below are things I’ve tried:

  1. Using lots of detergent. As high as 24ml for Phase 1 and 21ml for Phase 2.
  2. Using little detergent. As low as 2ml/1ml.
  3. Extra rinses and three further Quick Rinse cycles, for a total of nine.
  4. Many combinations of Clean Machine and Clean TwinDos actions.
  5. Running empty loads with no detergent after loads of laundry. Sometimes there is a bit of leftover detergent but usually it’s clear.
  6. Replaced cartridges twice, which sucks given how expensive they are.
  7. Added distilled water to an empty cartridge and used for Phase 2 instead of the bleaching agent.
  8. Retested water using commercial strips. Corroborated Miele test strip result of soft water.
  9. Called certified repair technician. His computer detected no faults or other issues. He thought the laundry felt normal, but I and my friends whom I’ve forced into feeling my laundry all agree that something is wrong.
  10. Manually adding liquid detergent (Woolite Dark). I’m fine doing this but it’s really hard to gauge how much to add since I don’t know how much water the machine will use. It over suds even with a few drops from a dropper bottle.

Does anyone have ideas or solutions? I appreciate the help. I’m pretty close to putting it in the garbage and just going to the laundromat :-)
