furniture/layout suggestions for living room
Comments (1)Is the rug centered on the window or with the room? Generally, loveseats are very difficult to work with and are usually not the first seat people gravitate to. If it were my room I would slipcover both sofas in a white duck fabric. If you're not going to watch TV here, I would put both sofas entirely on the rug, facing each other with the coffee table 18" or less from them. You can align them either way. If one has its back to the entry, then add a sofa table behind it. If they align with the window behind one of them, then add a tall piece of casegoods like a bookcase or secretary to the end wall. You can move them to try in both arrangements now to see which you prefer. Once that is decided, then we'll approach what goes on all the walls and what other pieces of furniture you may need....See Morewhat size should the living room and dining room be in open concept?
Comments (9)I admit, I've never quite understood the idea of having both a living room and a family room, esoecially in an open concept house. I grew up in an era where houses had separate rumpus rooms, usually in the basement, where little kids could have their toys and bigger kids could hang out without interfering with or messing up the adult areas of the house. The living room was where the adults watched tv, entertained or read, and that area might have been a separate room, or open to the dining room. So I guess my question would be, how do you plan on using those two rooms that will give them each a clear purpose?...See MoreSuggestions for furniture for blank slate living room
Comments (4)Thank you for posting those! I like the 3rd one with the navy couch. My husband wanted a navy leather sofa but I thought it was a bit too much. I worry about the cognac color being too similar to our floors, even with a rug underneath. I don't care for the colors of our floors, it all reads a too orange to mem and that the cognac is maybe too trendy? That seems to be the majority of photos on pinterest when searching for leather couches. Here is hopefully a better layout I like the color of the couch in this one with the darker teal rug and light accents with the pillows and ottoman. This is what I have saved so far, working on adding to it. Thinking maybe a wood coffee table and metal end table near the couch and the chair. I would like to center the couch in front of the fire place, an end table on the left of the couch with a lamp, and then a chair and maybe ottoman on either side of the fireplace?...See MoreDo I need to put same rug in dining room and living room
Comments (8)If it was my room, I would look for a larger rectangular rug to use in the seating area, and leave the floor under the dining table bare. It's easier to clean and would put more focus on your living space. I'd also paint the walls a warm white, a muted light green, or a light beige. The gray doesn't work well with your floors, wood furniture, chairs, or blinds. Your furnishings would look great with warm white walls and a rug that incorporates the coral color you have in some of your accents....See MoreRelated Professionals
