I haven't planted kale in years :-/ I had great luck the first year, then the second year I waited too late and they stayed way too small. Then COVID... and everything sorta fell off.

I have a bunch of Russian Red and Scotch Blue seeds left, and I'd like to plant them and see what happens. I mainly want some winter color, but would also like to have some to eat.

When should I plant seeds in zone 7A?

Or do I really need to start them in a tray first? I hope now, because I want to plant about 50 of them and don't have enough time to manage that many trays!
