what size & where to buy decent mirrors over vanities
Comments (11)A few suggestions... There's a Restoration Hardware outlet at the Tulalip Outlet mall so you might find a few deals there. ( I remember you mentioned living in Edmonds, so it might be worth the drive up north.) Or, as Babs suggested, having a glass and mirror shop custom make a nice beveled mirror is very reasonable. When we remodeled our master bath we made a frame with some nice trim/molding that we bought from our cabinet maker (to match our cabinets) and had a mirror with an extra large bevel to fit in the frame. For our guest bathroom I found a simple, wide, solid wood, oversized picture frame at Aaron Bros. on sale for $20, and a local glass shop put a beveled mirror in it for me for $40. It looks fabulous! (We used a metal bracket called a hangman which makes it easy and safe to hang large, heavy objects.) In regards to the size, personally I think bigger is better, especially vertically. I've always noticed nicer hotels have wonderfully large mirrors - they really add a feeling of spaciousness to what are usually small rooms....See MoreSize of mirror and lighting over vanity?
Comments (0)Hello all, I posted part of the above question before but left out the other part. For a 48" and 30" vanity, what size mirror and lighting would be recommended? No sconces, just over the mirror lighting. Thanks!...See MoreWhat size/shape mirror over vanity?
Comments (3)Your sconces are too high. They should be at eye level. The shades are too wide, leaving you with a mirror only the width of the sink, which will look odd. The time to plan all this out was before the wall paper was hung. I would bite the bullet and do it right instead of trying an imperfect fix....See MoreWhat size mirror will look good over a 55 in vanity?
Comments (6)In terms of proportion anyway. But you're right, round mirrors are a little different. I wouldn't get one any larger than 40". Also, if you get a frame you may want to match it to your hardware. Here is a photo of a round mirror with a size proportional to your vanity. Of course the placement of the mirror also depends on how tall you are. I wouldn't get a round mirror any larger than this....See MoreRelated Professionals
