can you 'transplant' spanish moss???
Comments (91)Thanks for the great suggestion dottie! With the amount of rain we've been having lately, there is no shortage. I collect it in plastic milk cartons (gallon size) for specific indoor plants that are more sensitive, such as my various 'ground' mosses (cap moss, rock moss, etc.) I am trying to grow 'regular' moss as much as I can in the yard. I'm even pulling the grass out of my larger moss patches. I'll never be able to fully convert our lawn completely over to moss, as we have too much sun. Yet, where it wants to grow, it's encouraged! Moss is a natural "Lightning bug Nursery" and there aren't as many as I remembered when I was younger. They are so sensitive to pollution and we may eventually loose them. I feel for those who never saw lightning bugs! It's not summer without them! When kids collect them and put them in jars, then tell their mom to "poke holes in the lid so they can breathe," that's what KILLS them! They need a humid environment, so add wet grass and keep the lid on tight, then release them in the morning! ....and I ran off on a tangent....again ;)...See MoreSummer wardrobe and summer plans?
Comments (48)Are there any slim feet people here? I have to share my new worlds most comfortable sandal from The Flexx shoe company. They have a stretchy section. Love! I'll be able to do lots of miles on vacation. They have a 1 1/2" heel. Here is the link at Nordstrom. It says they fit true to size but if they fit my foot perfectly they must be at least slightly narrow. Not overly though. http://m.shop.nordstrom.com/s/the-flexx-band-together-sandal/3520349?cm_mmc=google--productads--Women%3AShoes%3ASandals_Slides-_-909074&rkg_id=h-77242275352e1500631745f06a4fef51_t-1496187451&adpos=1o1&creative=145503081341&device=m&network=g&gclid=COHMpszkmNQCFVMGhgod5ccBrg...See MoreFinally Posted my vacation home
Comments (58)I grew up in central Texas, and my sister and nieces still live in Austin. I went to Temple High School, BTW, back when Temple was in the same district as the high schools in Austin. The best times to visit central Texas are March and October. I can start to get hot in April, and by May it is really too hot, but the wildflowers are best in April. My parents passed in 2012, and I've only been back to Texas to visit my sister once since that time. If she would buy a house like yours by a lake, it would be a different story. I lived in Houston when I was at Rice, and I preferred Houston to Austin back then. I also like El Paso and San Antonio, as well as the area around Fredericksburg - I bought some Lederhosen the last time I was there. I moved back to Austin after living in San Francisco for twelve years, and none of my friends in SF would visit me there. I only moved back to Austin to get my ID degree, which took 3-1/2 years, and then I moved back to California. I really cannot handle the summers there, from May through August or September. I never spent a summer in Houston either. I've never been to Canyon Lake, but it looks like it would be like Lake Travis, but perhaps a bit less crowded. I've spent a huge amount of time at Lake Travis while living in Austin, as it helped me endure the heat in the summer. I do miss having a warm freshwater lake for swimming. The ocean here is cold, but I used to surf when I first moved here....See MoreTreat yo self...on vacation
Comments (59)It is always such a treat to see pictures of Emmett. He is such a cute toddler! Glad your vacation was refreshing. That is what vacation is all about! I am terribly sorry to hear about the IVF disappointments. Sounds like you and DH had some time to ponder some important life decisions, which are usually best handled when relaxing and getting away from the everyday routines. How life changes in one year!...See MoreKswl
