NO. You have to feed and water the rose and that is best accomplished FROM THE TOP. The water and nutrients are going to go through the herbs first so they'll get theirs before the rose will. You want the rose healthy and vigorous. Why take half its root area; half its water holding potential away from it for the herbs? What happens when you determine you don't like the bugs or fungal issues and want to spray the rose to get rid of them? You don't want to spray your herbs, even with organics or bacterials. If the plants were in the ground, it would be less of an issue as there would be tremendously greater soil area providing tremendously better water holding potential than the pot does. Even then, though, you would still face the potential spray issue. Plus, the rose will benefit from being regularly fed. The herbs generally don't NEED to be. Kim

This has probably all been rectified, but I have to comment on Mr. Owen's post. PTT polyester, also knows as Triexta, has a number of benefits over PET polyester... 1) Softness - one touch will tell you that, you don't need me to and it is softer than 90% of nylons too 2) Durability - PETs do have less resilience and are less durable overall. 3) Stain and soil resistance - Just about all PETs still have topical protectants added to them for stain and soil resistance. Triexta does not. 4) Improved resistance to peroxides and even bleaches. PETs are ok with benzoyl peroxides, but stop short of resisting bleach. Triexta more resistant to both. Your "unbiased" link says the following: TRIEXTA Also, in the Polyester family is its superior cousin PTT. This fiber is known as SMARTSTRAND (trademark) when marketed by Mohawk. Mohawk recently received FTC approval to market this fiber under its onwn class. This PTT fiber will now be know as TRIEXTA. In the future you will see more about this name change. This fiber is even stronger than PET polyester, and has better colorfastness and cleanability features than PET. PTT is as colorfast as solution dyed nylon. This fiber is extremely soft, and yet behaves better than staple nylon, especially in a shag construction. If you have kids and pets, and are going to be in the home more than 10 years, PTT is a good choice; especially the 3GT Sorona Dupont Polymer offered in some Mohawk carpets. I have not had a consumer complaint on this fiber in the four years I have been selling it. By the way, PTT is just one step away chemically from 4GT polyester that is used to make tough auto parts. Lucky Star & Intelligent style are the same style & density--they just have different names based on the retailer. We have the Intelligent/Lucky Star style and we are very happy with it. It is thick & plush enough to feel luxurious--denser than alot of competitor carpets that you are used to. IMO, it's not necessary to go with one that is any denser--all density levels have the same warranty. I would stick with 60oz and upgrade your pad. Alot of people upgrade the carpet and go with the cheapest pad possible, when the pad is just as important as the carpet. Hope this helps!

Janice349- I've had smartstrand in 2 different housrs, plus a client had WHITE smartstrand in their house with 3 toddlers, and they all looked brand new 3 yrs later. In spite of my elderly dog having accidents. Perhaps you were given something else, but we're told it was smartstrand. I always got the mid grade frieze. Client had a plush. I love smartstrand and wold tear out new carpet of a different brand so I can install it. It didn't even mat down on stairs. When I went to sell my house, I didn't even clean it...just vacuumed and it still looked new.
