The firebox is by Heat & Glo model # RH 36. The hearth can not be raised; it measures 3/4" x 14" x 69". I see on the mfg's website they show this model w/stone over that metal frame! We didn't think it was possible; I'll have to show my husband when he gets home tonight. My husband's detailed plans show the mantel shelf abutting the TV niche face frame. The windows measure 38" x 62" (including the casing). The 14" is to the casing-- that means the moulding/trim, right? :/ Ultimately, he's going to do what HE envisions in his mind in regards to style.... But the color combination is a real issue! So many details to consider! Wall color, Mantel surround color, tile color, etc. What you are doing is sooo helpful! Thank you!

What will the mirrors reflect? Will they double something beautiful or interesting? If not, then ditch that idea and just get some new canvases to change the ambiance. I always opt for art rather than mirrors, especially in dining rooms.

looking for feedback as to how to update the look of this wall. house is 17 years old. I've grown tired of the trim molding, thinking about removing it for a "cleaner look".

To do a combo post. Paint your railing the same color as this trim and fireplace surround. Yes to removing the random trim. Wish I would have been around when you were picking out lights, I would have hung something a bit more interesting and lower into the room. .... thought. If you redo the sitting room, you could put this fan combo light in that room, and beef up the fixture in this room. Tho I dread enclosed fans and lampshades together, (they get grubby), especially when they are out of cleaning reach.
