Need help with living room decor. Room is open concept to kitchen
Comments (5)I would start out with a large, beautiful rug in warm colors (terracotta or red Oriental rug mixed with other colors. I feel sectionals often confine you in how to organize your room. I would choose a fabric couch in a neutral, not too dark color (not gray, which is on its way out and not a warm color), and add two chairs in a different color or at least a different material and style. Try to keep the height of these pieces similar. Two end tables in wood (they don't have to be the same, but make sure the heights are fairly similar and a metal and glass coffee table would look great, with table lamps or floor lamps even if you have overhead lighting, which is always harsh. Pick colors from the rug for pillows and you'll have a beautifully coordinated living space. Books, good paintings and some tall plants will add warmth and personality to your room. People too often don't add these elements and then wonder why their rooms look bare and cold. This may be more colorful than you want to go. and this is a small rug because there is carpeting underneath, but it gives you the idea of neutral furniture and how it can be made more lively with accessories, pillows, coffee table styling etc....See MoreHelp with living room Decor PLEASE
Comments (12)@Lyn Nielsen Thank you for your feedback! I was hoping with some artwork and a vase it wouldn’t look so awkward 🤷🏼♀️ lol @Sammie J I’ve seen so many inspo pictures with an arched mirror in the living room and thought how much it elevated the room but I guess it didn’t work out for me. I was thinking maybe a white jute rug since there is a lot of shades of beiges/cream. @BeverlyFLADeziner When we moved in that was our initial plan to have that same layout but we didn’t want to have the couches up against the window and the fireplace is positioned in a corner(living room layout is very odd). I really love the mirror but i guess it will have to go 😔...See MorePlease help with living room decor! Wall art, pillows, and curtains
Comments (6)Balance: I’d skip drapes as a rod a few extra inches above windows won’t affect the ceiling/window effect. The tv is really high for viewing and I’d be bringing it to eye level. If interested and if room allows, can you turn sectional/console so they are facing windows and place tv there and art above fireplace. If keeping as is, add a huge piece of art between windows again to draw the eyes down into room. . Decor: suggest light textured blinds, a floor lamp and side table in corner with new chair to fill that space nicely and as a nod towards coastal, cushions, lamps and art will do the trick....See Moreliving room decor/layout
Comments (9)Your room cannot really contain the two sofas. You have no room for any accent chairs. But everyone has to work within a budget so let's see if we can make the best of this situation. I don't have the actual dimensions of your room and the furnishing, but going from the photos I believe the layout below might work. Place the two-seater in front of the window and the three-seater as you walk into the room. (Hope there is enough room before you hit the column.) It's the only way you can possibly hope to be able to view a TV which I assume will be placed over the fireplace. After moving the furniture post new pics of the space so we can assist you with area rugs. This is a good place for pattern and color. You'll be surprised at how much better the room can appear. Work on the layout first, then the rug, and last paint and or wallpaper. Frankly with the right art and accessories, the room might not need either. This is just to illustrate how different rugs will change the room....See Morecuratorial_strategies
