Any Comments On Interior Wood on Dying Albizia / Mimosa / Silk Tree?

Does anyone have reference photos of heartwood on a Mimosa tree? I am trimming off dead wood on a 50-year-old Mimosa, and the photos here show the status of the interior heartwood and sapwood on some of the branches. Does the coloration of any of this suggest diseases and anything other than a normal end-of-life process for an old tree that usually has a shorter life?

The wood seems extremely dry. The tree may not be getting enough water. What is the best way to get water to the root system, given that the roots must be all over a large area by now? Would water around the base of the tree not even get to the parts of the roots that absorb water on a mature tree?
