Low volume production and a lot of crystal. They can get expensive. Look up some Schonbek pricing and you will see. no idea if RH will have crystal and quality as good as Schonbek though. I have an older Schonbek 'Fantasia' chandelier that has moved through 4 houses now. I take it and its solid plaster medallion down before listing and store them.

Hey everyone, Uploading photos below. You'll see through-shots of the three rooms in question: a living room (near the far window/wall), a sort of foyer area (in the middle of the two other rooms), and the dining room. The dining room currently has no light. Just wires hanging out the wall. The medallions in question are in the living room and foyer/entry area. They are the same medallion. They have the same lamp--though it's hung at different heights. We bought the house that way and just haven't had time or energy to toggle the base of the lamps as we've been setting up other things. My questions for the Houzz community: --Do we want/need to have a third medallion that matches in the dining room--or should the dining room medallion be "matched" instead to whatever light we put under it? --Should medallions technically only be paired with chandeliers and pendants? Would it be crazy to put some sort of flush mount on a medallion? (I've included an illustrative photo of the kind of flush mount we'd considered at the end of the list.) No that is not what I said,...........................you can say all and anything you like, but you cannot be critical of someone's comment without stating a sound rationale and reasons. Give all the opinions & suggestions you like on this open forum, but do not attempt to couch them in expertise because you move furniture as a pro. I'm not about to tell you how to get a sofa in an elevator or load a truck because I have no expertise in that field. I may have an opinion, but no real first-hand knowledge. I hope you see the difference.

Yes, the height is what made me think I can't do it myself--it's an awfully long way up! Thank you for all your advice, everyone, and for confirming that $500 is crazy! Maybe it's because I wasn't going to have him paint that ceiling, originally. Maybe after he agrees to paint the ceiling, he won't charge me extra for medallion? Fingers crossed! I don't know what material it is, but Rustoleum is supposed to work on anything, right? Ceiling will be Chantilly Lace. I assume I just get "White", right? Any particular formulation better than others? Sorry that I'm completely clueless!!
