Your favorite Lee Valley kitchen gadgets
Comments (21)I started ordering from Lee Valley when I did my kitchen over 6 yrs ago. I have the pull out beside my refrigerator, I also have the stainless measuring cups and spoons. I have the expandable drawer dividers, also the wall thing for hanging my pots and utensils behind my cook top. I have the danish dough whisk and the maslin pan ( mine has the lid..they no longer have the lid..it is the BEST pan you will ever ever cook in ) and the pie weights. I also have that microplane. The only things I got from them that were awful and a waste of money were the pink stretchy things to hold chickens to truss them..they break right away and also don't stay tight and a set of scissors that I got that were the Chinese supposed to be super sharp..ha..they went in the trash. Otherwise everything has been perfect. I may have to put together another order !!...See MoreWeek 162 - Useless kitchen gadgets that work or not!!!
Comments (175)I bought the pull and chop as a present and tried it- now I have to get one myself!! Thanks beachem! I don't know if it is kosher to post here but I saw that bargainhunter above posted about how useful the Thermomix was. I am now selling my older model Euro Thermomix TM21 including the 240V transformer (to allow it to work on North American 120V circuits) on our craigslist if someone wants to try out the Thermomix abilities at a bargain price and is driving distance to Baltimore. It works well and I am including several Thermomix cookbooks. You can pm me if you want to see the listing. I also have a small electric egg cooker that I no longer use since I get consistently perfect hard boiled eggs on my induction cooktop so any gardenwebber is welcome to that if they can pick it up. Also several slow cookers that I don't use since I got my instant pot- just pm me. Would be great if someone could arrange a gardenweb kitchen gadgets or equipment swap /giveaway date some time!...See MoreNew little kitchen gadget.
Comments (16)This little oven is so easy to use! If you want to check something for doneness, you can open it as often as you like and it will start back up as soon as you close the door. You can also add things to the basket later on in the cooking process. It comes with a metal grate that can be used in a couple of ways.....including to layer items in your recipe or to heat things up in the last few minutes of cooking the main item. We have air fried some large breaded cod filets with great results, he has made a baked potato with the most crunchy, flavorful skin. I toasted some pecans for salads, Tonight, I'm going to air bake some chicken breasts and thighs after being given a light spritz of oil and a sprinkling of our favorite herbs and spices. No breading. I know that the skin will be browned and crisp on the top and bottom. For dessert lovers, you can bake in this appliance, too. Even use your own oven safe baking dishes, as long as they fit....See More2020 kitchen gadgets and knives
Comments (18)I have this Black and Decker electric jar opener. It works great! It requires only enough strength to push a button down. I’ve had mine more than 20 years. You can find them all over eBay for a lot less than Amazon. I even saw one on Poshmark once. I like this OXO manual can opener. I would love to have an electric can opener that works well. I bought one a couple of years ago and finally pitched it. It never opened the can all the way and I was left struggling with trying to find a way to pry it open without cutting off a finger. I have this Norpro scoop/portioner in several sizes. I’ve found that the key to making it release easily is to lightly spray the scoop with PAM or something similar. I don’t know that this is the exact citrus juicer I have (mine was a gift), but it is certainly similar. I’ve had it for years. It does what it is supposed to do and goes in the dishwasher. You can find similar on Amazon. Cast iron would be my choice for a grill pan. I’m partial to Lodge when buying new cast iron. Their grill pan at Walmart is about $20. At W-S, it is $35. Several years ago, Cooks Illustrated proclaimed Chefs Choice as the best electric knife sharpener. I can’t recall which model. Like others on here, I send my knives out to be sharpened. I live in a very rural area. Nevertheless, there are 2 places I can take my knives for sharpening, the specialty butcher shop and Ace Hardware. My potholders are pitiful. Old and getting thin. DD has a couple of OveGloves that she likes. Not being argumentative, just curious, is there some reason you cannot remove the handle cover once your pot is on the eye and then replace it when you want to take the pot off? Is there a reason to leave it on the whole time? I don’t have any and have never used one, so I’m unfamiliar with them. Are they difficult to get on and off the handle?...See MoreRelated Professionals
