Question about batting

I'm working at finishing up quilt tops for a charity group. I sandwich, quilt and bind donated tops. I heard something on TV about using fusible batting. That would save me a lot of pinning, which is the slowest part of all this. Tops are mostly lap quilt sizes, some 4' x 6'.

Have any of you tried fusible batting? If so, any advice or suggestions?
