those are rather huge plants in relatively small pots.. you may need to water 2 or 3 times per day ...

media is a water management system.. and when your watering fails.. if its not a pot size issue.. then its a media failure.. what did you use in the pot...??

I too was thinking those were very small pots for the size of plants. But then, I'm not into growing bamboo.

They need bigger pots or plant them in ground if possible.. what type of bamboo are they, clumping or spreading?

Thank you so much for the recs! I bought them pre planted in the pot. I used a little organic fertilizer the landscape company recommended and water from the faucet.

As previously stated, bamboo is strong and will break pots. As for the leaves, many of them will typically shed older leaves during the spring. I cannot tell if that is what is going on with your plants, though. Another thing to consider, is if the lower portion of the plants is getting shaded more than they were at the nursery/growing grounds. You have a wall and trees on one side, and a shading patio cover very nearby on the other. Many species of bamboo can tolerate some shade, but your plants could be favoring the additional light at the upper portion. It is not clear from the photo how the sun travels in relation to that patio area, so I'm just throwing the idea out there.
