Quality vinyl shutters?

We’re replacing the window shutters on the house, I’ve been told as long as I get good quality ones, vinyl shutters will be fine. And they cost less and are easier to maintain…

Unfortunately, I have no idea how to tell if vinyl shutters are good quality or not. I’ve read a little off the internet, but there’s not much information available.

Can I just buy stuff off the shelf at Home Depot and expect those to be good quality? They’ve got some Ply Gems ones made out polypropylene, And some Builder’s Edge ones is just says are made out of “durable vinyl”.

For the shutter style, I know I need what they call raised panel shutters.

Any idea how to tell if vinyl shutters are good quality or not appreciated.

Depends on your budget. What someone calls "low quality" at $4/sf could be the top-end of your budget. Superb vinyl plank flooring can reach $6/sf without blinking. And yes, the higher up in price you go, the better the quality. It also depends on WHERE this is going (which room) and what type of environment the floor will have to endure. Again, there are "best" products that are better in some situations then others.

Hi, has anyone been really impressed with a high quality vinyl flooring that looks like nice, wide lighter red oak planks? Most of the ones I have seen to me still have a very obvious unnatural pattern to it (very obviously vinyl from afar) or feel very plasticky however attractive they are from a functional perspective. Any brands/styles that would be recommended? Thank you!

I must be one of the millions of people jammed into that one percentile that feel the honesty of a house's construction is aesthetically pleasing and reflects the integrity of those that have a hand in the determination of how the house is constructed. Shutters that are functionally accurate convey a subliminal message of comfort and balance. I do not know what percentage it would be but I assume anyone looking for "Manufacturers of high quality exterior shutters" would also want the design of those shutters to be of high quality.

Just 2 adults, no sand, pets etc. Large windows. Cement subfloor. I think the wood will be best in long run

Do you guys know anything about the rbands they sell at Home Depot? The brands like Builder’s Edge and Ply Gem?

or you just like these other brands for some reason?

Builders Edge is made by Mid America but I do believe they are a Builders Grade and a thinner vinyl. Plygems is not much on most anything product wise.

Well, I don’t know how much this means. But the Builder’s Edge shutters at Home Depot are more expensive than the Mid America shutters at Amazon.
