It’s hard to advise on a rug at this point. I’d just start looking around for inspiration pics.

Are you keeping the gray floors?

CB2 has a great selection of rugs for when you’re ready. Or there might be some local places to see a variety of them in person. Unless I had an heirloom rug I loved, I’d decide on furniture first.
