Thursday's Treasures

last year
last modified: last year

We got a little more rain last night, and some of the blooms still had raindrops on them this morning. It was a very cool day in the 70s - so unlike what we usually experience this time of year.

Grandma's Smile X Dearest Valentine - The previous two years this evergreen seedling has been first or second of all daylilies here for bud count. But it won't be that way this year. It's gone from having 24-44 buds to having 12-14 this season. As far as height, it's only a bit shorter than usual, from 29 inches to 27 inches. I enjoy seeing it in these two clumps, one has seven fans and the other has five.

Here are a couple of new seedlings in the bed where the squirrels played with the labels.

I know this was a seedling crossed with something. It's likely (Zuzu's Treasure X Dearest Valentine #2) X either Last Snowflake or Believe in Angels.

This next one is one of red seedlings out of Ultimate Sacrifice breeding crossed with either Diver Down or Barbara Mandrell.

This one I can identifiy. (Natalie Antoinette X Symphony of Praise) X Secret of Contentment

All of My Love to You

Blue Swallowtail seems to have as many buds now as it did a month ago when it first started to bloom. It has two instant rebloom scapes started while the original ones are still going.

Roman Cohort is doing well this season with tall scapes and about the same number of buds as uusal.
