Hi, after lurking on the site for so long it is my turn to post the spec of my potential pool. we are to sign by next Monday. Please review and suggest any changes. My one big concern is the Salt system. the builder is using Jandy equipment and using Fusion salt system. I can upgrade to AquaPure, but I am not sure if it is worth it, or Fusion system will work -the mineral cartridge. I have seen where someone suggested to rig it so as to avoid using mineral buts still use salt for chlorination. any suggestion would be helpful. Pool size and shape model: 700 sq. I would not use the salt system, and instead us a Del Ozone machine, with a tablet chlorinator dial to the lowest setting, and a DE filter. Salt is corrosive, and maintenance is costlier. Ozone is the cost effective sanitizer. It can help reduce the need for repeated chemical purchase costs. This is what I use, I have the Eclipse 4 and could not be happier. Most contracts will state that they will not warranty the work that was done by others or the damage done to the pool because of another contractor's negligence. All in all that's not a bad price for tile installed in a pool. The caveat to that is if he is doing it properly. Is there multilayer water proofing? You have to remember that tile or tile grout is not waterproof. Even high strength shotcrete in permeable to water. Waterproofing the shotecrete, brown coat and grout all help to prevent leaks. It does cost money to buy water proofing materials and the labor to apply them. If the work is above the square footage of what you agreed to then the cost of installing it is not out of the ball park if its done properly. Your tile guy that you hired for your kitchen may not know how to install it inside a swimming pool. A lot of pool builders do not know either. Your going to find out if you have a good one or not by the way he installed the first tile. Hope this helps.

However the ones at the skimmer end were blocked by my predecessor, suggesting that for some reason they didn't help move flotsam toward the skimmer port as you might suppose they should Other than that: Suggest orienting the pool so your prevailing wind helps in that respect Living near Victorville we warm it in the summer using blue bubble cover which on the hottest days we roll up about 3 hours before swim. It has to be replaced once or twice a year at a cost over $100, trimming it to fit each time but guessing this method ultimately cheaper than gas or solar ......an example how primitive pool technology in a day and age when sending rockets to the moon got to be so so easy they quit doing it 42 years ago. If the Pool Establishment were like aerospace they'd all be built in standard shapes with covers ready-made to fit each one We use no cover in winter to better observe water color and to more quickly spot the larger creature otherwise slipping in at the edge though I feel guilty about drowning all those insects so we've considered a transparent cover but rejected the idea as suggesting more trimming as well as the possible need for a second reel Glad to discuss other aspects as dalehileman@me.com
