Comments (7)Housekeeping items. In the third pic of this thread, the treetop broom is Picea engelmannii; the eighth pic is a dwarf Pseudotsuga menziesii, near Dillon CO. Dave, glad you enjoyed this. It's been alot of fun for me to go through these photos. And a big thanks to Jerry for graciously loaning them out for a while. Zsolt, sounds good - do you have frites? Edwin, I think the #10 color is from being shaded out by the sagebrush. Jerry has a different cultivar named 'Yellow' which is growing at the Denver Botanic Garden. I may try and get to the mother tree this winter. Pinus flexilis 'Yellow' A few more of Jerry's pics. Comments (78)Thanks for the history C Markoff! My grandmother Alfrie Dixon was the inventor of the metal lampshade sold by Remington. I know my mother told me about her moving to Chicago to start up a lampshade factory and how people were lined up around several city blocks for jobs. It would have been early 30s. I'm thinking that would have been for Rembrandt as her metal shades were featured on their lamps. I can place her there in 1933 as a relative was hired and died of pneumonia in Chicago that year. My mom, Esther Dixon Siebenmark, went to the art Institute, worked at the Merchandise Mart and they lived at the Allerton I believe. Anyway I was able to buy a couple of Rembrandt metal shades this year and one of them has my grandmother's patent number engraved on it. I am saving all your news articles for my scrapbook. Comments (4)I think you nailed it with the William Morris rug. He was a major influencer on the Arts and Crafts movement and I think it goes well with the colors and vibe you want to create. Craftsman homes tend do be darker than most homes created today. You've caught that vibe and are sticking with it. (I think your vibe list is wonderful.) A lot of people these days would just paint out the wood and walls a bright white....See MoreHas anyone used Morris & Co. x McGee & Co. Pimpernel Ink wallpaper?
