For now, here's where I am: I've moved the sofa to the big wall, and the chair/round table grouping in front of the bay windows. I like it! I've also decided to return the floor lamp, it's just not working anyplace I put it. I really like Beverly's idea (photo) with the grouping of several framed prints above the sofa. I have 10 vintage (late 1800's) fern prints that I could use. They aren't framed, but are matted and have non glare glass held in place with clear gallery clips. However, I'm not sure they are any better "fit" than the bird poster……. I need to find three table lamps--two for each end of the sofa, and another for the round metal table between the two chairs. Here are my three finalists for the sofa end tables: I'd change the shade on this one--I don't like the pleats: All of these are about 27"-29" tall, so I'm thinking the scale would work. As far as the lamp between the chairs in the bay window--I definitely want something different, I've reached maximum matchy-matchy status with the end tables and lamps! Feedback? Thanks again! Diana

The colors in your picture are very hard to discern on line, so the actual color palette would have to be adjusted to match your particular colors and room conditions, but I would start with a rug...perhaps this one. ...then pull the colors from the rug to paint the room. Swap the drapes out with something in the color scheme but more in keeping with the furniture...a valance and side panels in a heavy textured fabric...maybe a velvet or a dupioni silk. Then go for art, perhaps something in the hudson river school that reinforces the color theme. I would add a separate but coordinating carpet under the dining room table.

We will need to be very creative with that budget. But it’s great you are thinking about it together now, because with a master plan you can add items as funds allow. We might want to keep your style to a “transitional” look and rely on accessories for punching up different looks. I would start with sofa, rug and one or two chairs plus a sofa table and arc lamp for living room. What do you need for bedroom? Dining room?

Thank you so much @arcy_gw for taking the time to respond. I love the idea of a tree lamp. I will definitely be on the look out for one. Would you recommend that the tree lamp be placed on the side of the wall with the ac vents or on the left side of the sofa near the door? Also thanks for letting me know about the concept of the dead space. Its just that the mirror on the fireplace reflects the air vents so it becomes more of an eye sore. I will try to color it the same color as the wall and hopefully the new chandelier will hide the reflection of the vents in the mirror. Thank you Jan @Jan Moyer for your feedback. I tried some online tools but I couldnt find a good one so did it on a graph paper as best as I could. The shape of the living room is quite tricky to be honest. The walls are not equal, there is a protruded wall cabinet on one side that restricts the openness of the entry to the bedroom, the door on the other side needs enough space so as not to hit the furniture. We did try a 3+2+1 set up but it didnt work very well. The 2 seater also was at an angle to one of the walls. We do love the sectional for its comfort, color and price and the brightness it brings to the living room. My partner did not want a curved sofa piece. We finally accepted the angles at which it is sitting today. Would love to know your thoughts on how it could be done differently. ( chandelier, coffee table and 1 accent chair). Almost all items that we have loved seem out of stock or the delivery date is months away. 2- I would have loved curtains had it not been a high ceiling simply because I would dread taking them down to cleaning them. Not sure if I can do half curtains and half shades. Would that even look good? 3- I also love the thought of adding wallpaper. Would you have any recommendations of a wallpaper? I am really afraid of making it too much blue or gold or even too bland?
