I need plant identification and watering needs
Comments (3)You should keep it in a cool place (50F is ok) and let it almost dry out between waterings. The idea is to give it a good soaking, let it use up all the water (without the compost getting so dry that either the plant wilts or it is so dry it won't wet again), and then soak it again. I would watch the sun factor in Southern Ca. If you have too much heat, the cyclamen will survive but go into the dormant mode, as it is a Mediterranean plant and goes dormant in summer. It blooms winter and autumn and early spring, if cool enough. I have mine under (actually very much next to) a calla lily in a shady place in the garden. It might get a peep of sun for an hour or two each morning, but it is on the cool side there. I sometimes even forget to water it, and then will go out and give it a good soaking, and it does fine. It probably does not get quite dry enough to match the conditons above described, but it does appreciate a little dryness once in awhile....See Moreneed i.d. asap..snowbank boltonia foliage? pic heavy
Comments (2)Looks similar to the Pink Beauty boltonia I recently planted--I had Snowbank, but in six weeks it didn't grow beyond tiny basal leaves in three different locations. I was interested to read that your Snowbank didn't do anything for a while. Maybe it's just the nature of the plant? Nothing I've read said that it takes a long time to establish, but maybe it does--I just assumed my plants were dogs. I took mine out (needed something big and fast-growing) and replaced them with a quart-size Pink Beauty (already growing well) and a couple of Eupatorium Chocolate, so we'll see....See MoreHELP - ASAP - In need of Tropical Foliage Identification
Comments (5)Cordyline terminalis is a synonym of Cordyline fruticosa. It has an interesting history. It's native to South East Asia across to Australia but was taken by the early Polynesians to Hawaii and New Zealand, they used it as a food. I collected some seed from it's native habitat and they all came up plain green, and are slow growing. They grow much faster from cuttings....See MoreI need help with my kitchen being put back together asap!!
Comments (3)if the ASAP is the issue [ not a remodel] then I'd go to your local hardware store....ask the guys because they usually know the local teams and if they are less/more busy....availability etc. There's a bulletin board in our local bigger hardware store and guys leave their business cards etc but I'd ask the fellas working there. I've done the phoning around using yellow pages method..... hit or miss w even getting answers back...talk to whoever you can nearby....See Morewoodyoak zone 5 southern Ont., Canada
