What type of rose has this type of leaf?
Comments (21)While getting some cuttings of Paul's Himalayan Musk today the shape of the leaves and the way they grew on the stems caught my eye. They seemed to be very near those you have in your picture. Could it be Paul's Himalayan Musk? PHM is a once bloomer which would never bloom if it experienced much dieback. Mine hasn't but it's only been in the ground here for three years and seems to be the rabbit's favorite. They eat most growth on it early in the spring meaning no second year growth to produce flowers. I don't think it's Darlow's Enigma. Mine blooms on new growth and has flowers on it almost continuously so far this year so yours should have produced blooms by now even if it had experienced winter dieback....See Morewhat type of rose is this?
Comments (6)i honestly never smelled it to see, its been here for years, my mom said its some special rose she got long ago, the main stem is as thick as my wrist, sorta like a tree stump and the roots go deep, i cut it all down a few years back thinking i wanted it cleared but it came back on its own and i really like it. it used to be all over the whole trellis before i tried murdering it lol i am still not sure what it is but i suppose it doesnt even matter, its a nice looking and hearty rose, good enough for me!...See MoreWhat type of rose is this?
Comments (9)Don't go entirely by size -- left to "do as it wished", my 'Clotilde Soupert' got a bit bigger, but didn't seem capable of supporting itself in its youth above three feet tall. A much older plant may. Check the canes. My 'Clotilde Soupert' has completely smooth canes, with prickles restricted to under the leaflets. I'll add that the foliage in your pics does greatly resemble that of my plant. While not an OGR, I'd certainly call it an antique -- dating from 1888, 'Clotilde Soupert' is over 100 years old. :-) ~Christopher...See MoreDoes anyone know what type of rose this is?
