what kind of TV stand coordinates with this bedroom?
Comments (19)There is definitely room for the table under my TV.... we have a really super thick pillowtop mattress so positioned the TV at the height that would allow us to view it comfortably. It is centered between the posts on our bed. Here is a picture of the wall...right now we have the satellite box propped on the cardboard box that the TV came in. LOL I liked that chloe table from PB because it is not this big boxy thing and will give me the storage and function that I need without competing with the other large furnishings in the room. I figure I can put baskets on the lower shelf that will help conceal the wires in the background...See MorePlease help us pull together the decor of our master bedroom
Comments (36)Ontario mom, I am posting pictures of our "blue room" that isn't actually painted blue. I think that the blue of Scandinavian Christmas plates looks best on a color other than blue. The white Holly Kay linked to, or something similar, would be beautiful for pine furniture and floors. This is a sort of montage of photos of the room. I have about 100 plates and cannot display them all, but they were the starting point for the room. It was already painted this gold color. I used other blue and white pieces i already owned (urns, vases, Foo dogs, etc) in this room as well. We purchase the oil of children on the beach and I framed it myself in the plein air style. Sorry for the horrible iPhone photos....this shows the plates above the headboard. We used DS2's childhood furniture (armoire and dark pine single size sleigh bed ). We recently put rustic white oak floors in the room and I added this blue and taupe-y gray rug: Closer of plates above headboard (these are Norwegian) and other blue and white stuff on shelf in bed alcove: In the corner is a display thing bought at Ballard Back Room in Atlanta (their discount place). They called it a bookcase but it is perfect for displaying plates in a corner! This is an interesting side table my mother gave me for my birthday about seven years ago. It is a mosaic top made up of broken pieces of blue and white china. On it is a lamp that was in my childhood room...a little too "good" for the rest of the room, but I wanted to use what I had. The bedding is a discontinued Ralph Lauren pattern I found on ebay. They incorporate shades of navy, royal and light blue, which is a perfect foil for the plates. I use the white matellasse cover on the bed with the comforter folded up at the foot. Hope these photos help you envision a blue and white room :-)...See MorePlease help me pull this pulled from dumpsters' bedroom together
Comments (21)Greywings, I have been coveting glass lamps lately so that is a great place to see if a small change would help! Jrueter, that looks great! I will show DH for all I could find last night were white washed walls. Thanks Grandmaof3, Accents are a great idea too. I will be honest I would love to like the room with just a change of paint color and a few small accents! Nosoccermom, I love the pics you posted and the natural pine is soooo lovely. I think mine might take a bit of sanding but I can try on the smaller pieces first! I already have an eggplant hall and navy guest bedroom abutting this room:( Maybe I will change the guest to grey and use the navy here! I am going to try a few paint samples on sat. to try and find a paint color first and after that if the pine pieces still make me say meh I will than decide how to change them out. Would a blue grey work the present comforter has dark grey with silver and robins egg accents. But I was afraid that a light blue might bring even more yellow undertones out of the wood. Thanks again!...See MoreCoordinating fabrics for the bath (off the bedroom)
Comments (17)Oakley - Yeah, I need some florals somewhere! I wish I had a powder room. I'd use some fun wallpaper in there. Shannon - The brown in houndstooth fabric is a dark black/brown. The floral is a rich, dark brown. I held both against my deep brown (SW Woodsy Brown) stairs last night they looked really good with it. Here's a shot of the brown on my stairs. Tina - Neither one of the fabrics are heavy actually. The small houndstooth is much thiner than the larger houndstooth pattern that I'm using for the pillows and bedskirt. The floral is thin but a weird texture though. Kind of nubby feeling on the back. My other shower curtain in the green bathroom is pretty heavy. The main curtain part is pretty thick. The colors look nicer together IRL, btw. The wheat base gets washed out or something in photos. Southernfrenchie- The towels are actually navy in the pictures. They don't really go super with the current floral valance but it's towels we have for now. Tina & Southenfrenchie - They're saying they don't have that paisley in the inspiration photos anymore. That it's been discontinued. They sent a differnet one that looks nice. (see below) I'm sure I could find another one cheaper somewhere else. A few posters said they thought the paisley int he book was Waverly paddock shaw but looking closer I think it's similar but not as much red. Anyhow, where do you guys think I should add the paisley? After I totaled up my shower curtain fabric cost and added it to my total cost I about fell over last night. I'm concerned if I don't order the fabric right now they'll be out later. I saw the floral was discontinued on some sites. I was thinking of using a different fabric for the base since I'll need a lot, to try and save some cost but this is probably one of those things if I don't do it the way I truly want, I won't be 100% happy with it later. If I do the shower curtain and window valance right now I'll have to wait to paint, new curtains for the bedroom, and bamboo blind. (Don't know that I would've been able to do "all" those other things either. Maybe would've been just the curtains and blind.) I also don't have a bedspread to use with the new pillows. I held it up to my tan vellux this morning just for colors ideas and it looked very nice. Going to get a tan coverlet or whatever you want to call the main blanket. Then I was thinking to myself this morning...maybe I can use some of the leftover fabric for mats in art. Just saw that on the Holly Mathis blog yesterday, Tina. My wheels are spinning. :) I'm feeling very chatty this morning. :)...See MoreJ Gaskill
