I saw your post on the kitchen sight, and I really liked your cabs. Have you thought of changing out the knobs, maybe bronze or nickel? They look like wood, and that would break it up a little. I agree that the wall color needs to be changed, just not sure what. Have you searched the Finished Kitchen Blog or Houzz.com and looked at other kitchens with hickory cabs? That's a good place to look for inpiration. I think an island in a painted color might give you a little something extra as well. I wouldn't paint until I'd given the hickory a chance. All the best!

Great idea to use those dishes as inspiration. Whatever it takes...and if you love them and they make you happy, go for it. I agree that the pink seems a little off kilter for a kitchen. Blue and white is lovely in a kitchen. Ever think about adding yellow? I am generally not a yellow fan myself, but my kitchen has lovely yellow (not buttercup, not sunshine, actual yellow) walls above a chair rail and beadboard below (so it's not overwhealming) and yellow and blue "stuff" - curtains, plates on walls, lamp shades on chandeliers, etc. Then my adjoining family room is painted blue. It's a great combo and easy to do in any style. Then add some of your bigger accent dishes (big platter, teapot, etc) and you bring in the pink. VOILA. OH...I just remembered that I saw something EXACTLY like your idea in a magazine sitting on my kitchen table. Bought the magazine at Target a few weeks ago (probably have it at home depot too) called Dream Kitchens. Spring/Summer 2009 edition. On page 134 starts an article (with lots of pictures) entitled Made For A Cook. The main idea is that this family has a huge collection of blue and white Spode dishware that they built the kitchen around. Built this big island to display these dishes. Check it out.

Yep, ours was the same--the prep was painful. I'm remembering that this was another reason we did the Click vs. the sheet--Click was supposed to be better over a slightly imperfect subfloor, and that may well be true (though you can still see a couple of odd spots where we didn't get a nail flush with the subfloor so there's a little bump that shows through, and in one place my husband is convinced he must have left a spacer underneath by mistake). That said, our neighbors with sheet have exactly the same subfloor we have in a similar condition, and it worked out fine (though they did use a place that specialized in linoleum to install). We're fortunate to live in an area where even the subfloors were made of lovely (although softer) wood so make pretty decent primary flooring options. We'll likely either go that route or install hardwood when we finally replace the Marmoleum. (Unfortunately we ran the Click underneath the cabinets based on the guidance we got at the time, so it's going to be a headache to replace.)

I looked up “mushroom paint colors” and clicked on images and your inspiration kitchen was the first picture that popped up! It might be Mouse’s Back by Farrow & Ball. I saw that the Traditional Home kitchen was listed as FB Mouse’s Back in this link. https://thefullheartedhome.com/mushroompaintcolors/ You might check out Sherwin Williams Curio Grey in your space as well. They looked pretty close to me, but I am not a paint expert. I would get some sample pots of paint to try rather then the peel and stick samples. It is just because I worry that the printed color could be a touch off, so I would want to see the actual paint in my space. It is crazy how colors can look so different when in your kitchen’s lighting too. And as you can see, the online photo above of the mouses back looks different then the one below!
