Wolf gas range wok burner ignition delay

I bought a 48" wolf gas range with the big wok burner at the center (model #SRT484W). The problem is the central wok burner has a 4-5 second delay for ignition. I push the button and after 4-5 seconds I hear the click sound and then I turn and it works. If I push and turn immediately, it also takes a few seconds but it makes me nervous as I am afraid of gas leaks during the delay.
The repair guy said it's normal, but he said he'd try to change the thermostat to see if it improves. I called the company and the customer rep said it's normal too, if the repair guy looked at it and said so. But it feels wrong. I guess I'll just ask the forum if it's indeed normal?
Thanks.
