The ottoman & TV console are in caramel color range & they both look good in room. I’d look at shades that are close match or a bit darker than the ottoman. Have you considered getting 2 chairs? More flexibility for furniture arranging & same amount of seating. That would be quite a refresh!

I have thought about that but not sure I'm ready for that much change!  We don't entertain and the current configuration works well for my small family.  We have a front room (intended to be a library but is really more of a play area for my daughter) where we have additional seating. I may think about moving that one chair into the living room at some point in the future but I'm not sure yet. See pic but excuse the toy mess!

I'm liking the idea of caramel leather.  It may just work.

@lina_loomis Love that chair & foot stool in front room! Here’s a thought - before investing $$ in a new sofa, caramel color leather or otherwise - move the sofa into the front room & move that leather chair into the living room to replace the sofa. The sofa in front room could be along front of window, or angled like the upholstered chair is or even, looks like enough space to float in front room at right angle to window. Point of this exercise is, for the TV room, though the leather chair isn’t caramel, it’ll give you a hint about what a different color would look like in room & most important, will give you an idea of the possibilities that 2 chairs would create over another sofa. Might also open up the view to that corner fireplace. And maybe you don’t really need 2 chairs & you find that neat chair works great. Then if you still want to get rid of couch it’s a different kind of furniture you want for front room. A couch in play area might be nice for lounging. You might have to tweak placement of the plants & tables they’re sitting on in both rooms but shouldn’t be too much of a problem..

Huh! So loveseat and dark gray chair in the front room and then bring brown leather chair and stool into the TV room... Is that what you are suggesting? Then the new couch and the TV room would be purchased to match the brown chair.

That's very interesting... I hadn't thought of doing that! My husband's going to kill me because I'm always moving things around lol! But it's a good idea!

@lina_loomis Another thought - the table holding plants next to TV looks like a match to coffee table in that room - might that be a nice side table next to leather chair where loveseat sits now? And, would be nice to have a table between 2 chairs there. Might have to move the floor plant - rubber plant?- & all the plants on that table to—— where?

I think a navy or camel color leather sofa would look good in your space. I'm quite impressed how that Ikea has held up 12 years.

That $400 Ikea couch lasted through a baby/toddler/preschooler/now nine year old, a partner who takes lots of naps, a dog and one move.  Unbelievable, right?

I'd be inclined to switch the toys into the t v room. Looks like the kitchen is abutting and the arrangement would give the opportunity to have the kids nearby when cooking. Keep the t v, the sofa and bring in the Stressless chair/ottoman and the round rug.

Then buy a new sofa for the front room and spruce that space up. It is the first room you see when coming in the front door...a great spot should you have company.

Purchase another IKEA sofa and position it with. window behind. New coffee table and an accent chair that will pair with the blue one you have.
