Begonia Carolinafolia acquired one chonk of a stem over the winter!

I grew this last summer in a container garden. At the end of the summer, I begged a favor from my friend who owns a nursery to keep this in his greenhouse for me for the winter. I was afraid it would perish in my house (as most begonias do!). It looked like this in September 2022.
I picked it up yesterday. Check out the way the trunk grew over the winter!
Kinda cool but kinda wacky!
