Advice about staining a fence next to neighbor's fence?
Comments (30)Yes, the neighbor whose fence you see was fine with our fence; he's complimented us on it more than once. Of course I'll ask his permission before going on his property, and I'm sure he'll be fine with us needing to be on his property to complete the staining. The reason for the tall fence was the neighbor on the other side. She brought in two pit bulls who don't get adequate exercise; she leaves them outside while she's away at work and that's the only exercise they get. She has a chain link fence so her dogs go nuts when I and/or my dogs are in my yard. Her dogs act like they want to rip my face off and it's only a matter of time before they figure out they can jump over her 4' chain link fence. The fence installer suggested a 6' fence because he and his crew were concerned that the pit bulls were going to attack them when he came to give an estimate. In staining the fence, I've found multiple problems with the fence - so many boards have warped - and I'm having problems getting the installer back out to fix the issues. He did such a good job with my neighbor's picket fence that I thought he knew what he was doing, but apparently that wasn't the case....See MoreUgly fence advice. Rust stains. Paint or stain?
Comments (2)If you use a solid color stain, you could put a sealer just over the nail heads or screws, whichever it is, so it wouldnt bleed through. A different type of nail or screw should have been used, so it wouldnt rust, and look like that. It will look very nice, once you stain it....See Morewhere to get advice about attaching trellis to top of stucco fence?
Comments (0)Hello, I know very little about stucco walls, except that they are fragile. We have a wisteria that could, if encouraged, grow along the top of a 6" wide stucco'ed fence. The wisteria is in a good mood now and I want to take advantage. I figure it needs some type of lattice? But even if I figure out how to find 6" wide lattice (which I guess will mean getting a BBS person to cut one for me...), how should it be attached to the top of the stucco fence? (Oh also ... should I look for cedar lattice? does that exist?) I don't think we need it to be hinged or anything fancy ... but, I'd hate to damage the wall, it already has some cracks. And it's right over a sidewalk on the other side so it has to be secure. We don't have a handyman anymore. Where would one find out about this? I believe I already snooped around in the Vines forum and didn't see this. Thanks!!!...See MoreFence delimma and advice
