Help me get rid of these PEACH garage doors! Color advice, please!
Comments (8)Hi, I can't see enough of the Reddened Earth sample to tell at that distance, but I think you're on the right track. What I would do is find the color closest to your brick, and then use it on both the downspouts (as Chloe suggested) AND the garage doors. I always disguise downspouts on brick in this way, even if I don't use that color anywhere else on the house. Leave the garage surround (trim) white for contrast. Because your brick is highly variegated (contains several different colors), you won't be able to "match" it exactly. What you're looking for is a reddish brown that seems to best 'fade away' into the background of the brick. If you need to look at other paint decks, do it. The old Ben Moore "Classic" fan deck has a lot of muted red and orange colors that tend to sync up well with common brick tones. An ideal place to test your simulated brick color is on the downspout. Paint out a long section. If testing two colors, leave a foot or two of white space between them. The one that seems to disappear is your winner. In the future, when your budget allows for a full repaint, I'd probably replace the peachy sand color with something more taupe or greige, such as SW 7031 Mega Greige. At that point, you might choose to paint the doors greige as well, or if you're happy with the brick tone, they could remain. Downspouts should remain the brick tone -where they cross the brick- no matter what....See MoreHelp me choose my garage door & front door color please?
Comments (6)I'm no expert but I think you're right, you probably want to keep the garage door matched closely to the brick around it so you don't highlight the garage. I think the bright white on the front door looks nice but maybe to make to stand out more a different color would be fun, but yeah, not red, lol! Ok, I'm no help but hopefully my comment will bump it up....See MoreFront door and garage, trim colour - Need Help!
Comments (15)nooks,,,I just use my Mac desktop, Preview, copy and paste. transfer a copy from one photo, and paste it to another photo using preview. it's rudimentary, but it works. what I can't do (or don't know how) is curved or slanted lines. there are other programs for that and stay away from Brown. Try Urbane Bronze if you want that color family. it would look nicer on the trim. Or Iron Ore. Urbane would be similar to this garage door and trim around the brick doing a stark white or pale gray doesn't really blend well w/the dark brick. if you're getting a new garage door, get one w/the top row of lights and the hardware. (and not the arched inserts. you want something modern/square) if you're doing a door w/glass like this, do the same on the garage door think about elongating your porch w/slate or tile, and take it over to the right more. New lights and a address plaque too...See MoreHelp! What color should replace the Dark Green?
Comments (15)The garage door should not be a focal point; better to paint it to match the siding above it. Nix on painting the window frames a different color for the same reason. As someone noted, though, that tree could be a beautiful focal point, especially if you get it professionally pruned. Any of the gray or bronze colors that people have suggested for the trim would work well, and you could still paint the front door a bright contrasting color if you want. Another idea would be to accentuate the garage door with big pots on either side or a vine-covered trellis overhead. You could have a beautiful classic midcentury look very easily here!...See Morezarabiggs
