You already have a backsplash out of your countertop material. Nothing else is necessary. If you’d like something different, please remove the 4” splash. Having both is redundant.

@arcy_gw- The photo shows the whole room. I stood in the laundry room to take the photo. It’s just three lower cabinets and a bar sink off the kitchen. I use it for serving food like a buffet area when I have company. I think I like the no backsplash at all idea. I’ll get a deeper sink and we’ll see how it goes. We have a similar bar/sink area upstairs with no backsplash. I’ll just have to get the walls repaired when we remove it.

This is so interesting. I’ve never seen anyone attach a 4” bs to a tall cabinet. And your wet zone seems to be on the island. I hope it comes off easily. If you end up needing to repair it, your cabinet company can probably provide you with touch-up paint if you ask. My least favorite look is tile above a 4” splash. It’s the belt and suspenders look. But people do it. Do a Google search and see if you like it.

IMO the wrong type of schluter was used and honestly those accent walls behind ranges are a really dated look . So maybe a blessing . Rip it out do the same tile all across that wall and forget that weird square of accent tile
