You could put a sun filtering shade in each door. That way you can still open the center door to go outside. You would still have somewhat of a view. If you get battery operated blinds, you can set then on a timer to lower/raise as needed.

Looks like the side panels are fixed? With a door in the middle? If yes i would mount blinds directly on the doors. Something that stacks tight on the top so as not to obstruct your view when you don’t need light control.

In our previous house we had door mounted cellular shades (Duette) from Hunter Douglas on all the french doors. Some had cords and some were cordless. Our doors and trim were painted white so the white Duettes blended into the door when in the raised position. Will be harder to match a color on a stained door.

I agree with others on mounting blinds. Top down /bottom up cellular shades would be nice as well as solar roll shades. I use both in my home.

i just bought room darkening grommet linen type panels for my 7 foot window that faces west....the room darkening lining really added weight to the look of the panels...I did 4 panels for 120$. I just slide them open and close ; you can adjust your support hook over the door jamb of the operable door...just a budget solution. There are plenty options for room darkening type panels.

Can see your dilemma. They are lovely doors and a lovely view, and as is they have a nice clean line to them. I’m not sure I am a fan of the blind idea as curtains have a softness that they bring to a room.

I would mount a remote controlled sun shade outside that can be lowered to shade the door. I bought mine at Costco. Easy to install and operate. Doesn't block the view but definitely lessens the intensity of the sun. They can be installed well above the window if you want to hide them under an eave; because of the angle of the sun on the hottest part of the day, they don't need to cover all the way to the floor.

Ceiling mounted hardware traverse rod with hooks can be hand or baton draw. Any brackets will not interfere. I think adjacent door mounted blinds will bind on each other at the top of the hinge side of the operable door and the fixed door preventing you from opening the door to 180, flat against the window to the right, which I would find annoying.

And a wall mount set of shades would need to be pulled open 100% on the operable door to go in and out. I had a client ruin a shade by pulling it 95% and yanking the door open. Not everyone is careful. (We switched to curtains which she still slams in the door but at least doesn't ruin them completely in one shot)

If you like the idea of curtains—track curtain rods. Can be mounted to wall or ceiling in a continuous line. Can even go around corners.

You can get aftermarket blinds that snap onto the window frame.

Hmmm… I’m just wondering. Maybe just replace and refresh. Vertical blinds work well in some areas. These days, I guess I’m reconsidering “outdated.” If it’s useful, and I like it, why should I replace something just because someone says it’s outdated. Just my opinion.

I saw a glass box modernist house posted in a design magazine some years back that had vertical blinds everywhere. The house was floor to ceiling glass in a lot of areas and any other sort of treatment would have taken up a lot of room. Sometimes they make sense.

Curtains and a rod will work. You just need the right rod. I had full length, lined curtains in a study that had two big doors to the outside deck. Go to a professional curtain place for help.

Blinds on the door are not the most attractive and your doors are beautiful.

Solar shades 10% a dark color to keep the view and that IMO is all you need since it does not look like privacy is an issue. You can put them on the exterior or inside either one works.
